DONE! (With exams at least....)

Nursing Students Excelsior

Published

Took LS3 today and passed with a B on the first try. All done with exams! Now just FCCA and CPNE to go.

But more importantly:

I can play World of Warcraft for the next few weeks and not feel guilty because I'm not studying! :woot:

Hello. It is my understanding the FCCA is NOT an exam. I would think it would be very difficult to "collaborate" (does this mean I'm being accused of cheating??). Just like in brick and mortar environment, students have every right to talk and discuss. I am not commenting to anyone that is ahead of the game but someone that is on the same time frame as me. I think, as adult learners, we can (and I will) call Excelsior tomorrow about this and clear up any confusion. It seems highly unprofessional that they would expect us to never have a study buddy. Thanks.

I was given the information about EC prohibiting collaboration by EC faculty. This was also when the FCCA was done at home by students on paper, prior to it being done online at home. However, I am still being told by students that there is verbiage about academic honesty and sharing information as part of the online modules. But by all means, contact EC yourself. Please let us know if something has changed.

Actually, in reviewing my email, this was after it became computerized. Per the Dean, no collaboration. Just for clarity, and names removed per policy and privacy, earliest email is at the bottom:

Hi [Pixie.RN]: Just checked with the Dean. This is a violation of academic honesty. If students are in the exam, it is not a collaborative effort. Refer them back to the academic honesty policy and EC. Thanks.

Subject: Clarification on FCCA and academic honesty...

Hi [xxxx]! I figured you'd know the answer to this -- are students allowed to discuss the FCCA now that it's a computerized course? There are a few discussion threads about the FCCA over on the EC board on allnurses.com, and I just want to make sure students aren't violating academic honestly by discussing it. The discussion threads are fairly vague, nothing specific, but I'm just looking for clarification on exact policy so I can ensure these folks don't jeopardize their enrollment in the ADN program. Thanks!!

Regards,

[Pixie.RN]

So there it is. Do with the info what you will.
