Can I , after becomming a c.n.a. start my own business taking care of elderly people or do i have to have an lpn or rn available to do so. I live in Arkansas. Thanks, Tonya

It depends on what kind of service your are going to provide. If you are going to cook their meals, do their laundry, make their beds, or mow their lawns, then no you do not have to be a licensed nurse.

By the way, one of the businesses being started in various locations, is to do peoples shopping. Many can't get around as they use to and don't like going to the store. This service can also be provided to those who have busy schedules and shopping is more of a chore than they would like.

A C.N.A. & I was thinking about opening a place something like a day care but for the elderly instead of children. If not that then just going to there home and helping them with everyday things. But it was going to be just the 2 of us ( c.n.a.'s). We didn't know what the law was on not having a lpn or rn around. Thanks, for your information it helps a bunch.

I don't specifically know Arkansas State law so my suggestion is to talk to a local attorney. 30 minutes with an attorney could say you a lot down the road and get you off on the right foot.

Thank you for the information. I will contact a lawyer to check on that.

Again thanks so much.
