Tncc as a nursing student

Specialties Emergency

Ok, help me out here. The TNCC website doesn't list who's eligible to attend unless I missed something. So, any of y'all out there attended a TNCC course while a nursing student? Any tips, etc. if you did attend as a student?

I'm starting my third semester (ADN) and we get ACLS in semester 4. I want to attend TNCC before ACLS. I'm a former paramedic, Navy Corpsman, TCCC Instructor.

Thanx!

As a student, I wouldn't do this. Only RNs can be verified as a TNCC provider. As a non-RN you can audit the lectures, and you might be allowed to attend the skills sessions. You can not take the final examination or skills evaluation.

You can audit the course as a student, but you cannot certify. I audited it my last year of school because it was fun (I'm weird), but I still had to retake the course after graduating and passing NCLEX.

Actually, chare, I did take the final exam and complete the skills practical as a student. I received a completion certificate but not a certification card.

Thanx, everyone! I just got the email response back from ENA saying I could audit. I'm one of those "weird ones" too who does things differently.

The course coordinator might have allowed you to do this, however as this is against ENA policy it was definately an exception.

How much is it to audit the course?

I was advised that if I took TNCC after I had my license I could use those hours for continuing education. This is probably what I'll do.

How were you able to sign up for the class and how much did it cost? I was considering doing the same thing, so I can move into a different specialty.

Thanks :)

A listing of all TNCC classes is available on the ENA TNCC webpage, although some of these classes are not publicly offered. Contact information for the course coordinator is provided.
