:mortarboard: hi, i am a new grad starting a new career very soon. i will be starting in a local ed in a little over a week and i really want to make a decent impression. my confidence level is not that high so going in with a little humilty is no problem. any suggestions for easing my transition from new grad to new employee. i have experience in the emergency medicine field just not as a nurse. any suggestions will be appreciated....just dont want to get chewed up and spit out early in the game. and i really dont want for them to think i am clueless :uhoh3: i know respect will be earned as i prove myself, i just want to be sure i get a good start.

Congratulaitons erRn on the new job and passing NCLEX!!!!! WTG! As far as the new position goes....just remember there will be tons to learn and the fact that you are ALREADY asking questions tells me that you will do fine. The lkearning never stops in nursing. I think getting off on the right foot in the beginning with your preceptor is crucial, the remaining staff will almost always follow her lead. AKS ASK ASK and always be willing to show them that you are willing to work even if it is something that a tech can do. If you get them to see your always willing it will make your jab easier in the long run. ER can be very intimidating but such an awesome and rewarding (at times) area to work!
