We are currently in the process of updating/improving our ER Nurse Standing Orders. Could any of you please share with me your current standing orders? Such as, x-rays, labs, procedures, meds done by nurse or ordered by nurse before the patient is seen by the ED MD.

Thanks to all who contribute.

You can respond off list if desired to [email protected]

At our facility we are allowed to do quite a bit based on our assessment prior to the MD seeing the patient. We have several pathway orders that we follow for each ailment. For instance chest pains over 35yo get CBC, CMP, CPK, MB fraction, CXR, EKG, IV as a standard. We also give Nitro SL, ASA, and paste prior to MD seeing them. Abd pains typically get CBC,CMP,HCG,Lipase,UA sent. Cranial CT's are ordered for the change in ms patients. We have a lot of free will so to speak. And there is always a doc who will give you a verbal order if needed to expidite the process if they are behind on seeing people.

Is it possible for you to send a copy of your orders to me??

Either at the previously posted e-mail or fax 765-449-5061.

Thanks

I would be happy to send you the pathways that we have....but it would be easier to send them via regular mail. We have several and hte way that they are set up they are a packet that opens up..it is 4 pages total. But is really one sheet of paper. Does that make sense? Let me know!
