Hi all I'm a masters prepared PMHNP looking to go back for my DNP. I also have interest in obtaining my FNP but don't want to do both a post masters FNP and a DNP. Are there any online programs that would allow me to obtain both at once? And is this a good idea or not?

Not enough information here. You have been working as a Psych NP job for a few years, and you are looking for something very different. Why?

Certainly you can get another certification. But considering both the tuition, and the hourly wage cost of your time, it will be expensive.

Depending on the market, it is very unlikely to pay for itself.

Unless you hate Psych NP work. In that case, you ether need a different job, or to get out entirely.

You don't give your age or other circumstances. If you are 30 and single, free and clear, willing to move, and get more student loans, and you heart is set on this, then maybe?

However, taking more loans without a clear goal seems unwise.

Overall, if you are young enough, I would suggest working towards the DNP on a part-time basis. It will eventually be required.

Post master's FNP/DNP programs exist. They require 3 years or more of full time study, and wouldn't result in much of a raise, if any.

I find it sad that someone has gotten to the PMHNP point, and it wasn't what they wanted. Of course, there are lousy jobs. I just think FNP jobs are not usually better.

Ok, I said my piece.

No no you misunderstand I absolutely love being a psych np. I'm interested in obtaining my FNP because I love learning and feel I don't know enough about the medical side of things. I work with the SMI population and would like to be dual certified to better serve this population from both the psych and medical side of things. I just don't want to do a post masters FNP plus a separate DNP and I kind of want both. And I want to do it the quickest cheapest route of course. I'm not looking for more money as I'm very well compensated as a PMHNP. I'm 40 and would be paying out of pocket as I don't want more loans.

You are very ambitious.

Always glad to hear PMHNP is working out well!
