BSN-DNP interview, Loyola, 2015

  1. Although I am an avid allnurses.com reader, this will be my first post on this site. I recently applied to Loyola's BSN-DNP track program and will be invited to an interview, I have never been interviewed for school before, and have only worked at one hospital since obtaining my nursing license, so my interview skills are not as sharp as I would like. Does anyone have any insight as to what type of questions will be asked during this interview? Has anyone else been interviewed for this program recently? Any help would be greatly appreciated, good luck to all of you applying!

    Good luck I graduated from Loyola University New Orleans 5/21/16. It is a difficult program and most of us took 4 years instead of 3 but it can be done. You really need to be self sufficient as there is disorganization.

    Hi! Congratulations on your achievement! Do you mind me asking what exactly was disorganized in your opinion? Was it just the course structures? Or something else? I just had my interview a few days ago and I'm really nervous!

    Hello all! Congratulations and acceptance and graduation! I am interested in applying to Loyola for the BSN DNP program. I know that the minimum GPA is a 3.0. Were you all over qualified when it came to GPA?

    @rdennis4,

    I'm not sure how they calculated my GPA since I started with my ADN and just now finished my BSN. But for both programs, my GPA was over 3.3. Also, we started a group on Facebook which makes it a little more user-friendly to communicate. Me and another student were accepted and the other 2 have already submitted their applications. The Facebook group is "Loyola University New Orleans - BSN to DNP 2017".

    hope to see you there!

    Most in my cohort had over a 3.0. Perspective, we began with 40 people in cohort 1. Eight people graduated on time in 2015. Another 5 of cohort 1 graduated this year in 2016 (including me). I know of at least 3 more of cohort 1 graduating in 2017. So out of 40 that began 16 finished. Good Luck!

    Hi! I know it's been a while since you posted this, but would you mind elaborating on the disorganization of the program? I am currently in the admission process.

    Thanks!

    I graduated from Loyola University New Orleans' MSN - DNP program in 2015. I did the NP, not the executive leadership, track. The first question I remember them asking was why I wanted a DNP. Then it went to issues I'd had with being an RN and an NP and how those impacte my decision to go on. The interviewer also asked what I planned to do with the DNP when I graduated. Um....there were others but I don't remember.

    Some aspects of the program can be disorganized, but about 30 of my starting cohort of something like 50 did the program in the planned 2 years. We had a few more join us in 2015 who had taken longer. It was a tough program but worth it...

    What type of setting are you working in now that you have your DNP?
