Hello,

I have a question about DNP. If you decided to specialize in let's say family health. If later you want to do other specialty such as acute care or mental health, can you take some kind of certification, or how does that work?

Please help I have been doing research, but I couldn't find the answer.

Many schools offer post masters or graduate certificates that allow one to complete the educational and clinical requirements for a new specialty certification. These programs seem to vary significantly in duration and transferrable credits. I would recommend looking at an initial program that offers many different certification specialties as this may shorten the length of time to add a new certification at the same school.

Actually, most schools I've looked at seem to be doing the extra NP credential at the Master's level. Doesn't really matter--you get the extra credential without it impacting the DNP. You'll always be a DNP.

Depends on whether you want a brick and mortar school or a primarily online school. Look online--lots of options.
