Why does a dialysis machine turn yellow?

Hi Allnurses,

I was wondering what this could mean. I know it has to do with possible liver damage but thats all I know. Any help would be appreciated.

If you are talking about the filter turning yellow it is caused by bilirubin staining the membrane. I would suspect liver failure.
