Trying to get into Dialyis with no luck so far

I just took my Ncclex-RN today at 75 questions. I have applied to every dialysis center in my area and I have not heard anything while, FMC weekly posts new jobs for RN's. I have no dialysis experience and prior to RN school I have been an LPN for 4 years working in LTC and Assisted Living. I know that the economy is bad and im frustrated not to hear anything. I have read other posts that dialysis centers are very short staffed. I know that it is a big investment to train someone and I know that dialysis experience is definately preffered I guess my question is will some one give me a chance. What should I do? Do I have a chance at getting into dialysis at this time

I work for FMC as a tech and with me they hired two RNS that had 8 months of LTC training and at the other clinic one fresh out of school. My suggestion is to try getting a job elsewhere this way you don't loose the skills you have gained, dialysis is very repetitious work and you will be doing the same thing, day in and day out. If your on the floor, hook patients up, pass meds, do a foot check, chart all your info., and the same thing the next round of patients. It's rewarding though.

I love how techs think RN jobs are so simple(sarcasm). I used to be a PCT at a hospital and I thought RNs just sit and chart and do other "simple stuff"... Boy, was I wrong!

Nursebethat, can you tell me about your experience with the program Dialysis4Career? I am thinking about the in person college program that they provide, but I am finding very limited testimonials from nurses who have taken the course. Can you provide me with as much detail as possible about the program and your thoughts? Why did this program set you apart from the rest? Do you think you could have had the same or less training on the job versus the program, or do you think you were better prepared by taking the course?
