I am a nursing student looking at a position as a dialysis patient care tech at Renal Care Group. If anyone can fill me in on the specifics of this type of position, I would be most grateful!! I have no clinical healthcare experience outside of CNA clinicals, but I would like the opportunity to get certified and learn something during school. I am only starting Block 1 of a two year program. In addition, Renal Care does have tuition reimbursement, so that looks good...:)

Thanks so much!

i worked for rcg for eight years 6 as tech and 2 as a nurse it was a wonderful experience, ileft to get more experience. as for the exp. rcg taught me all i know i went in with only a cna cert. and no clinical exp. whatsoever. In my state they were recently bought out by a larger company Fresinius but still apply and i wish you the best of luck

From all I have heard, RCG is a wonderful co to work for. Yes, they have been bought out by Fresenius, hopefully there won't be negative changes.

By all means apply.. you will learn MUCH.. not only about renal/dialysis, but nursing as a whole. I worked as a dialysis PCT for five years, three of which I spent working on getting my RN.. still there..now as RN for the past three years. Love what I do. And yes, my tuition was paid for, so that made all the difference in the world, for me. All I had to contribute was the effort, the many long hours of studying, determination, and will to succeed. :)

I have been employed by RCG for 8 years now, 6 years as RN and 2 years as PCT while

attending nursing school. The experience as a PCT was invaluable during nursing school not only because of the knowledge gained re: medical issues, but skills such as time management, organizational skills and the ability to work effectively with other people. The hemo clinic is a fast paced work environment that requires teamwork from all involved. I live in Ohio and the PCT's are required to be certified by the Ohio Board of Nursing. Good Luck to you. I think it would be a wonderful idea.

I have been working for RCG since 2000. I love the place and the way they

treat their people. We have just recently been bought out by FMC, don't know how that will work, but not much supposed to change at clinic level.

Any specific questions, let me know.

I have been working for RCG for 2 1/2 yrs as an RN and love the company. I don't feel like a little fish in a big ocean; they really make you feel like they know you personally. Fresenius bought us out but I've heard that they want to learn from RCG; wanting to apply RCG policies and procedures because they work so well. I would recommend dialysis work, and especially RCG, to anyone. :coollook:

Well, all the advice seems overwhelmingly positive!! That is very good.........and suprising though since I see this ad quite a bit in the paper, like they can't keep the position filled. Hmmm.:coollook:

Well, it is good to know I can apply there if need be. I plan to take a couple months to adjust to NS and then go looking. Thanks so much everyone!:)
