It is a common practice during "Dialysis patient blood return" with the Fresenius 2008k to repeatedly click the over ride button or the prime button on the dialysis machine to silence any alarms. But some patients claim they pick up fluid when the 'prime button or over ride button is activated during blood return. Is it possible for a patient to pick up fluid when the 'prime button or override button' is repeatedly activated during blood return?

In my limited experience

The prime button will not work when the venous drip chamber is full.

The override button or reset button even when depressed will not make the machine infuse fluid faster than the blood pump speed.

Prime and rinse back should be accounted for in the UF goal. Weight loss will be Pretreatment weight - UF goal + prime and rinseback + any flushes = actual expected post treatment weight.

what he said. You can't prime with a full air chamber. Also the override button silences the alarms and opens the limits up on the arterial/venous pressure limits so that the return pressures don't cause it to alarm. You can also just keep hitting the mute button.
