I really appreciate any replys who can tell me "yes" or "no" from their experience.

I have been a nurse for 16 years however I don't work in the renal arena. My husband rejected his transplanted kidney 4 to 5 months ago. We have Kaiser and I have taken him to Kaiser 3 times in the last week.

Initially his hematuria was light pink, dark pink and for the last week has been frank red. Initially they said probable UIT. Ok, Cipro and we went home.

He has abdominal pain when he is and is not urinating. No burning. No back pain.

Second visit: I was very impressed with the MD that we saw. They did STAT labs. No infection. H&H low but no under 8. Started FESO4. The irrigated his bladder until clear. About 3Liters. They told us if he bleeds again to come right back because he may need a transfusion. Also referred to Urology who was not taking appointments at this time for what ever stupid reason. Also was schedule for a Renal U/S which will be this Wednesday.

ok, Third visit: New guy, this time a PA - although he was very good also.

STAT labs again. HGB 8.3. they start EPOGEN and did the Renal U/S STAT. Of course they told us that it was for the Urologist that would be calling us in the next couple of days to schedule him for a Cystoscopy to see what is going on in there. This guy told us that is normal to see bleeding from a rejected kidney !!!!!!!!! They up'd the prednison from 5 to 20mg. justifying if it was from rejection it may help.

Has anyone in their clinical experience heard or seen this?

I just what to know if I am being bull shiXXX or not. He has no pain where the transplanted kidney resides. He pain is central bladder and pubic.

Any replies are very appreciated.

Sounds like your husband needs to see his nephrologist. I'm sorry for the stress this is causing you but we really can't provide medical advice. Please take care.
