Hello nurses, for those of you who were hired by Fresenius, in the pre-hiring process did you have to take Hep A and B vaccine, HIV testing, and any other vaccines? Any answer will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

HI there. I work at a Fresenius facility. I recall getting tested for HEP B antibodies to ensure I was immune. (I was d/t having the series in the 1990s). I also had to submit to TB skin testing. They very strongly recommend you get Hep B series d/t being in such contact with so many people's blood, and some clinics, like mine, do have a Hep B positive patient to run. Your coworkers will appreciate your being immune so you don't have to turf a Hep B positive patient to their care if you are non-immune.

I wish you luck!!!!

No HIV testing where I am.

Ok thanks, I just wanted to know since a lot of people were saying that

Where I am we had to have Hep B titers drawn, if you were immune you are allowed to care for Hep B + patients, if not you are offered the Hep B series. (you aren't allowed to care for Hep B + patients if you aren't immune) If you are immune your blood work is good for 2 years with your clinic. If not they retest you yearly. We also had a TB test which should be done yearly as well, No HIV testing though.
