I am a recent ADN grad with some PCT experience in progressive coronary care while in nursing school. I also have my ACLS cert, but no real experience working as an RN. I have an interview coming up with Fresenius and have no idea what to expect. I have already done the long personality assessment online and been through a very brief phone screen. The interviewer told me the assessment helps them determine what sorts of things they might ask me in the interview. It is for in-patient and the description mentions training is extensive. I have taken care of dialysis patients as a tech, but how much should I know about dialysis for this interview? I am very nervous and want to do well. This is a specialty that sincerely interests me. Any pointers on what to expect from the interview, the length of the hiring process, what sort of person do they like to hire...really any insight would be tremendously appreciated!

When is your interview? I think the most important thing to know about dialysis patients is that dialysis is a huge part of their life. They have dietary restrictions, fluid restrictions, and need to spend several hours three times a week on the machine. This causes some depression and psych issues. So you will be dealing with that. Also, A lot of patients are diabetic, have issues with hypertension, and cardiac issues. So you will learn a lot about the comorbities, your experience with cardiac patients will be helpful. Dialysis patients have a lot of issues with electrolyte imbalances, so you might want to research that a little bit. If you have any questions, let us know!
