Is anybody else out there concerned about new criteria for payment for HB levels for Renal Pts?

No lower level

I foresee pt's being kept anemic rather than maintaining 12 plus HB, from 2010 we were penalized for pts not achieving 10 and above-we lost 1% of our payments this year!

In 2013 we are going to be penalized for having 33% of our patients above 12 in 2011! We all worked so hard to stabilize pts as close to 12 as we could. It took forever to manage their epo's

Now we are in a mad dash to get our pts who are above 12.1 off epo to bring down their HB to under 12 as fast as we can!

I personally think we are always going to be at the losing end as all through 2011 we struggled to get our HB's up to 12, now we have to have them below 11 to comply with regulations.

At the end of this year the goal posts will change again, I think the goal posts should be fixed and stay there, for the good of our patients.

The way the companies will view it, will be cut all epo and keep levels below 11.
