San Luis Obispo Men's Colony

Hi,

I am being considered for a job at SLO Men's Colony prison. I'm an RN with all of one year experience in labor and delivery. I absolutely hate my present job, due to my horrible co-workers and my overnite shift. I actually like the patients and l&d is okay. I know there's a hospital at the prison and that it's a min and medium security prison. I also know it's 8 hour shifts which I might like since I spend all my time off trying to recover from my previous shift.

Does anyone work there? How is it? Any idea what I would be hired for? I took the test online and then received a packet in the mail which I returned.

Thanks so much!

If you registered at changingprisonhealthcare.org and took the online test, you should start receiving job opening announcements in the mail. Be sure to respond to EVERY ONE of them even if you do not want that particular job/region. I just got two letters for openings at Men's Colony. I sent my app in but have not heard back. Also, go to the California State Personnel Board website and fill out an online aplication (form 678), you can save it online and then print it out when you apply for a position.

I think it just devolves in to a waiting game. The state is strapped for cash and even though the jobs are posted, it seems like it's taking a long time submitting the app to getting contacted about the position. Hope this helps.
