  1. I mainly wanted to gain some correctional experience before applying to the CDCR. However, I found a registry that is going to place me at Soledad. If I like the position I'll apply for a slot with the state.
  2. I submitted my application more than six months ago and have never heard back from them. Good luck.
  3. Yes, agency nurses are still used. Go on Craigslist.org and do a search in health care jobs for "Corrections". Most of those posting are agencies although almost all of the one's that I have seen are looking for LVN's. Check out Maxim Health and American Correctional Solutions also...
  4. MysticalSeeker, By now you should have started your new position. How is it going so far? I'm in line to start at Salinas Valley State Prison in October. Any insight as the "FNG" would be appreciated.
  5. If you registered at changingprisonhealthcare.org and took the online test, you should start receiving job opening announcements in the mail. Be sure to respond to EVERY ONE of them even if you do not want that particular job/region. I just got two letters for openings at Men's Colony. I sent my app in but have not heard back. Also, go to the California State Personnel Board website and fill out an online aplication (form 678), you can save it online and then print it out when you apply for a position. I think it just devolves in to a waiting game. The state is strapped for cash and even though the jobs are posted, it seems like it's taking a long time submitting the app to getting contacted about the position. Hope this helps.
