    I'm a new grad and just got a job through a temp agency in South East Michigan to work in a correctional facility. I am both excited and nervous. I really want to an emergency room nurse in Detroit but intill I get hired this would be an interesting place to start my career. Does anyone know how much new grads make working in prisions? Also any advice?

    I am not a "new Grad" per-se but I don't have much experience (only 1 job as an LPN) I also had an interview with a SE Michigan Correctional facility, though I haven't heard back from them yet, I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I'm also interested in how much I will make. Which facility are you working at?

    Congrats on your new job! The agency pay for a corrections nurse in MI is approx $29. It's a decent job and as a new grad you will get to see and work on a lot of different things and hone your assessment skills. They do like to play games and fake illnesses so be aware of that.

    I am working at an MDOC facility in Jackson rite now thought a contract agency and I started out at $29 and after 6 mo it jumps to $30. I hav a years experience as an RN I left home care for corrections and I LOVE it so far I hav been there for a week and am so thankful for the opportunity of change

    That's just want the hiring agency starts out at is $29/hr for the first 6mo then jumps to $30, I hav the option to ins through the agency but there r no premium options and its WAY to expensive for my husband and I

    I am originally from Michigan, and am in Arizona now. Right now I will be working as a corrections LPN while I finish up the RN program. Are there many opporutnities for corrections nursing positions in Michigan? If you know of a good agency, please send me a PM with the name. I plan on moving back to Michigan once I complete the RN program.
