Any information would be much appreciated. I have done adolescent psych for a while now and am thinking about taking a PRN job at a nearby juvenile correctional facility.

I have never done psych but I think your psych skills will come in handy. I work in a girl's juvenile correctional facility. The girls try to be very manipulative and many are diagnosed with bi-polar or depression. I am sure you have dealt with a lot of that in your practice.

The job itself is pretty low key. Most of the kids are healthy so you would probably mostly be dealing with little aches and pains type stuff such as sore throat, cramps, headache, minor injuries. And with the girls we see a lot of them cutting themselves. Where I work, anything serious is sent to the local ER.

In some ways it is probably similar to school nurse for middle school and high school kids.

Thank you for writing and sharing your experience. I am kind of hoping it is similar because I do enjoy it. I had to smile when I read what you wrote about your girls. We always say that with the boys you are likely to have a table hurled at you one minute and they will be your best friend the next but the girls, no way they can tell you in a year exactly what you did today to annoy them, lol. Take care! Jules
