Hello Everyone.

I am thinking about going to school to become an LPN. I missed the deadline date for the state technical schools whose LPN program begins in January. So I have been looking into two private schools which are Lincoln Technical Institute and Stone Academy whose program begin in March. I would like to know does anyone know and/or have heard about these two programs besides the cost? i.e. quality of the two program(s), student retention along with

graduation rate, transfer of courses to other colleges to bridge from LPN to RN. I have signed- up to take the TEAS exam for the two schools in about two weeks for which I am studying for. I would appreciate any and all feedback from you out there. I thank you for your time.

Here is some of the info (for 2012 year) from the CT Board of Nurses

here is the info on NCLEX pass rates for 2010-2012 (2013 isn't up yet) DPH: NCLEX Pass Rates

As for transfer of courses for the LPN to RN bridge....all the Private and State LPN to RN bridge classes accept the 'credits' of the LPN program and apply them to the first year of nursing classes in the ADN programs. Meaning, you only have to complete the 2nd year nursing classes (as well as any general education classes that the program requires.). Your A&P and the other non-nursing classes you take in the LPN programs do not transfer and do not act as credits for the gen eds required for the ADN program.

Hello CT Pixie.

I would like to thank you very much for responding to my post. the information that you provided to me was very valuable. I am doing my research into the different nursing programs which is going to help me be a more informed consumer when choosing a program. Again thank you very much.

I went to Stone. I feel the program was ok. Of course there are others who felt poorly about the program but if you make a real effort you will do fine! My only complaint was the tuition. It was very expensive compared to the state programs.
