Jobs in Colorado Springs

U.S.A. Colorado

Just wondering if anyone here knows what the market is like for new grads in CO Springs. I have been on Memorial's website and it looks like they have a new grad program. Does anyone know how competitive it is to get hired there. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks!

I applied at both Memorial and Penrose as a new grad. I heard nothing back from Penrose, but had two job offers from Memorial. I have heard wonderful things about Memorial too. They are a city owned hospital, with great benefits that start day one. I was hired before I passed my boards. Hope this helps. If you have more questions, I may be able to help :nurse:

Thanks so much for the info. I am really hoping to work at Memorial so this is great news. Take care!

I am a new grad myself and currently am looking into positions at Memorial. I am from the east coast and am in the process of relocating to COS. Would you mind sharing which dept. you work for as Im curious which depts. are currently hiring.

Thanks!

hello!

i have not started working on the floor as of yet. i start the week long orientation on monday. i will be working in renal medicine. they hired me for this position in june, but i had to take my state boards and wait for the results. i had two interviews, one with the department manager and the second was with 6 people from the floor. i also had an interview in ortho surgical, but that is not my area. not sure renal is either, but it will get me a lot of good experience.

i do have to warn you, they do the pbds assessment. i didn't know what it was so i looked it up on here. heard a lot of negative things about it, because hopsitals use it as a hiring/firing tool, not an assessment (as it was designed). i believe that memorial uses it as it is to be used. they said there would be an assessment to help individualize the new nurse orientation on the flooor. i am hoping that is true.

sorry i can't give you more details.

i am new to colo springs, but i have heard nothing but good about this hospital. when i went there to look around and apply the employees were so nice. there were a few times i must have looked puzzled and i would have employees asking if they could help and they even went so far as to take me to where i needed to go or to where i could get the help i needed.

if you have any more questions, i will be around!

nicole

Thanks so much for responding to my post.:wink2:

I interviewed a few weeks ago at Memorial and I totally agree with you that everyone was very friendly. I am currently in the process of moving to Colorado Springs and although I have to return for a follow-up interview, I expect to be starting there real soon.

How has orientation been? How difficult was the PBDS assessment? I was told by HR that the first week is mainly administrative work, learning how to use the computer (for medication purposes) and getting a physical. Has this been your experience?

I hope all is going well with you. Good luck!
