Denver School of Nursing, July 2017 cohort

U.S.A. Colorado

Published

Hello all!

Just wondering if anyone else had applied for July. My friend called today and the lady said they would be letting everyone know by the end of the week if they would need to schedule their interview!

I stand corrected and I am sorry about the misunderstanding everyone! I heard from a faulty source.

Just to add to this, the Colorado Board of Nursing confirmed with me over the phone today that they are still an accredited program. There are a lot of people here working very hard and investing time, energy, and money into their education, so please be mindful before posting these kinds of comments and do your own research before believing random sources.

Again, my apologies to everyone.

I did not apply for July, but I was however accepted to the October cohort. Is anyone else at all concerned that this school was sued by the federal government for fraudulent financial aid documentation in 2015? Or the high turn over rate of the professors? I was really excited to move from Minnesota to Colorado and start this new chapter of my life but am extremely weary of this news after reading the reviews of the school, at such a high tuition rate too! I don't meant to discourage but it's something we should consider, right?

I was accepted for october as well, and will be moving from California. Honestly I had concerns as well, but after reaching out to students on my own who actually go there currently, I feel a lot better. Everything negative I read on the internet sounded like disgruntled students who failed and/or their parents, with not much to back it up. Nursing school is hard, and prepares you to pass the NCLEX; not for new grad programs or the real world. It's super expensive, but where I'm from most schools plus cost of living end up around the same price and a lot more. It's all about how you approach it.

Hello! I am a current student at DSN! I know the reviews can be kinda scary...but if anyone has any questions let me know! I personally love the school!

Anyone here looking for a roommate?? I am starting in October and starting to look for housing! Let me know :)

I'm a current student here and yes the reviews are scathing, but many are true. This is coming from a student who has done fairly to very well in most of her classes. It's not the teachers so much, true, they aren't all fabulous, but for the most part they are and you get what you put in. The main thing is the clinical office. They lie to you, tell you that they will try to get you somewhere close to where you live or if you have a preference they will do their best to get you there. Then...reality strikes you right in the face. I can't site specific incidents since I'm still a student there and am currently going through another nightmare regarding my current round of clinicals. So if you care about where or the caliber of your rotations, find another school. People have been placed for many of their rotations in any place but a hospital. Some get all hospitals. Their system sucks, instead of rotating people around if they go a hospital for one rotation or they were out of town for one to someone who maybe wasn't and alternating...some just get all the good spots and others get screwed repeatedly. Be wary people.

Hi all!

I know this is an old thread but I'm wondering if anyone here who was waitlisted ended up getting in. I just found out I'm waitlisted for the Jan, 2019 cohort and wondering what my odds are. Anyone know roughly how people they waitlist?

thanks!
