Arapahoe Community college fall 2015

U.S.A. Colorado

Is anyone starting with this class? I'm very excited!! A little worried that I haven't taken micro yet. I looks like I can squeeze in patho during summer next year, but I'm nervous about taking micro on top on nursing curriculum!!

I wish I could say I was...I have one prereq left, which seems easy enough, except it has a prereq of its own. I'm likely not starting until fall 2016. I'm considering other options because I'm ready to be a nurse, not a perpetual student.

I totally understand!!! Being a student sucks, but Ive learned that the hard way. Out of high school, I got my CNA, then an A.A.S in veterinary technology, then last year finished my EMT and IV cert. Always doing the "smaller" things, wishing I would have just gone for nursing where there is so much room for growth and movement. Finally put my foot down and said Im doing it, no matter how long pre-reqs take, becuase in the long run, itll be worth it! Look at the big picture, one year is nothing! Good luck to you :)

Was it hard to get in to ACC? I recently heard that of the 79 people that applied for fall 2015 only 35 were accepted and I'm starting to wonder if I need to make a back up plan. I have a good GPA, but I haven't taken the HESI yet. I think I'm going to schedule it this week because I want to turn in my application the instant they start accepting!!

Hi Jessie!

i don't want to say it was hard persay, just competitive! I told myself if I didn't get in I would keep trying and apply everywhere, even if it meant retaking a class to get a higher grade for GPA. I did pretty decent on my HESI and have a lot of background so that helped a ton with the point system. I think they open it up again for two weeks in November. It is posted on the arapahoe nursing website. It is a very strict school but I couldn't be more impressed! They are so organized and by far the best community college I've been too. (I have been to 5 now haha) I took my HESI two days before application was due. I wanted every last minute to study! HESI was actually pretty easy! Very basic. There are 35 in our cohert, and all the students are so knowledgable with experience as a CNA, EMT, MA etc. the extra licenses help your application also. I say go for it and always have a back up plan! If your pre reqs are done get a head start on your pre reqs for your BSN and apply again! If you want it enough, fight for it :)

Thank you for the words of encouragement! I think the number of people who get in is what intimidates me the most but I feel like I have a lot of things going for me. I'm glad to hear that you like the school - that's important!! I'm sure you're busy so I appreciate you taking the time out to answer back. Good luck in your first semester!
