Published

a small critical access hospital is in need of union rep, but the NNOC is too busy for us, not going to begrudge them, but who else is out there that is willing to help us? any info is appreciated!

Check the Internet for "nursing unions". There are a few out there.

I never heard of a union being "to busy" to help workers. If this is the response you recieved when you asked for help then you are right to look elsewhere. You can start with your State Nurse Association. Also check with nurses you work with along with friends that are in unions in your area. Many of the larger unions have healthcare and nurses as members. You can go to the AFL-CIO web site to get a list of unions and contact information.

Well, to be fair. They usually require 200 nurses or more. Were at 50. And we were told that it wouldt be till next year before they would be able to help us next year. And many nurses unions are state specific. Kansas does not have one. The KNA is like the ANA, and the NNOC seems to have all the national groups. Google is letting me down.... I would prefer a nurse union, but a professional union is better than nothing

Did you contact a union? Are you getting answers and help? Please let us know the outcome of your situation. I think you got lots of good suggestions here and it would be nice to hear a positive end result. Hopefully you won't run into any other unions claiming to be "too busy" to help workers.

Keep us posted and good luck!

talked to 1, were waiting to see if they have the resources available to help, the local rep is gung ho, but waiting on his boss and i sent e-mails to 2 others.
