working all over or sticking to one hall?

Just wondering; do the CNAs at your LTC facility work every hall, or do the same ones work on the same hall every day? Which way do/would you prefer?

Personally, I like working every hall. I start to feel antsy if they have me working the same one for more than 2 days in a row.

It's also kind of a thing at my work where the more halls you work, the more of a "big deal" you are. lol.

I prefer sticking to one section of the building. Since I'm part time though, they stick me anywhere they want :(

I like floating around....I worked at a place a few years back where I ws the only float, they told me it was for a good reason. My ego liked that. Some halls are harder than others, it makes more sense to me to move around.

I like them both.

When I was contingency, I knew about almost every resident in our 150 bed facility.

Now I am a regular which means I have my own hall.

Regulars have a lot more respect, but I am beginning to feel out of the loop because I am not up on everyone else.

It is easier, and I am able to give better care because i know my people better.

I'm a float CNA at the hospital. I like it because I get to do everything. There are floors that I hate going to more than others, but at least I'm not stuck on those floors all the time.

I wish everyone worked every hall. Then when someone calls off it's much easier to cover.

I've done both. Right now I have my own Hall, which I love. I still help out on the other Halls, tho, which keeps me in the loop and I can take care of most every resident we have (we have about 70 right now).

I prefer to float. Mainly because I like to get to know everyone and it keeps me sane. Having the same hall for a whole work week can get overwhelming so I like to switch it up.

I love to float. I work in a very large LTC that specializes in transitional care so we go from the most basic care to completely skilled. it is great. When I get burnt out on one part I can go to the other then return to the other part a few weeks later. There are only 2 floors that i do not work on. Our facility has about 400 residence all together.

I like to float around, too.

Where I work we have about 120 residents ranging from completely independant to skilled (were transitional assisted living). We split the floors up into 4 'lists' and each girl is scheduled a different 'list' each night. We also have a rotating bath aide, which we all take turns getting scheduled for. I prefer this because Im the type of person that gets burnt out quickly so switching around helps out, and since we dont have a TON of residents we all get to know everyones needs/wants/routine pretty quickly.

I work in a small (40 bed) AL facility so all the aides are on all three halls just depending on how the call bells go off and who's not busy. I'm ok with that though since I get a variety of residents to take care of and get to know.
