Wondering about Certification Test

Nursing Students CNA/MA

Published

Hi there :) I'm currently taking CNA classes in WI and I was paging through the Nurse Aide Candidate Handbook by Pearson Vue, reading about what will be expected on test day (my class isn't oven till Nov 10th) and I see that the people taking the test are required to act as 'patients' for the other students taking the test that day. 3 of the skills that might be picked are assisting with a bedpan, catheter care on a female, and peri-care on a female. I hope I don't sound dumb for asking, but does this mean that we will need to actually receive peri-care from another student who's testing?

Thanks for any help :)

No, no, no. That would never happen. If you were assigned to do peri care or for that matter ANYTHING that requires exposure, you would do it on a mannequin or just simulate or verbalize the skill for the proctor. Your "patient" classmate is there for skills such as transfers, BP, ROM exercises, etc. No nudity necessary. :)

lol-thank you! I never even considered mannequins :p We were learning about repositioning today and for some reason I said something in regards to wondering who we would work on for the test so when my instructor said that WE would be the 'patients' and my handbook confirmed that, well, you can imagine I was a little !
