Pearson VUE Candidate Handbook

Hi Everyone,

I'm taking my CNA exam next Thursday, and was wondering if anybody in SoCal (South California) knew what the Pearson VUE Candidate Handbook is.

I ran into this since I really didn't get much info about the state exam from my private CNA school. I ran into this handbook and was so excited to see that they are affiliated with NNAAP National Nurse Aide Assessment Program

However, it seems like my school and the Red Cross of Canoga (my test site) has NO idea of this handbook. I called Pearson VUE and they have told me that they are the State Testers and is affiliated with Red Cross.

I'm scared that this handbook is not what I should rely on (maybe its for only some parts of California?)

Despite this, it is a GREAT handbook and shows which steps on the practical skills portion the examiners are going to focus on!

I searched through all nurses and have read some people using this handout, but not in California (specifically SOCAL)

Does anyone know if this handbook is legit for SoCal CNA students?

Still no luck for me as far as the handout info. I'm going to call a rep at the nursing board tomorrow. Hopefully they're available.

Anyone here know the answer?

Seems like I missed the sticky post that has a "general" version of this handout. I just don't understand why Red Cross has never heard of it? Do you think Red Cross isn't following this handout?

I'm in NC, and EVERYTHING was based on that little blue handbook. We had to memorize all the skills and all the steps of the skills exactly as they are in that book. Your state may be different, so I'd definitely contact someone and ask.

Seeing that the handbook is affiliated with NNAAP I think I am going to study the handbook.

The American red cross textbook (second edition) has so many steps and does not emphasize what I should study for the exam. My teacher also did many steps different from the book!

But all in all I'm going to call NNAAP and find out why Red Cross isn't familiar with the handbook.
