Nursing Assistant Update

Nursing Students CNA/MA

Published

Just to keep anyone and everyone updated - I have now been a nursing assistant at the hospital where I work for a little over a month. I just went off of orientation with my preceptor, and will be starting totally on my own on Wednesday night (20 Jan). Of course I won't be alone - I'll be working with a great bunch of nurses and other NA's. Still a bit nervous, but not anywhere like when I started my very first day. I was lucky enough to have a great preceptor too..... I have been taking pre-nursing pre-reqs and co-reqs for the past two and a half years for an ADN to eventually become an RN. One of the concerns I had about all of this - I never told anyone this - is I thought to myself "What if I actually start doing this stuff and find out I don't really like it? What then?" But my first month as a nurse's aide has given me enough of a chance to experience and know that this is what I want to do, and it is actually what I was meant to do. I should be in good shape when I'm finally off the waiting list (been on it for almost a year now) and a start block 1 of nursing school, hopefully later this year. Thanks to everyone here for their words of encouragement........
