Not sure if it's worth it. Need Advice!

Nursing Students CNA/MA

Published

Hi everyone,

I'm currently in a BSN program, going into my third year this upcoming semester. I currently have a research assistant position, but no prior hospital experience. I've gone to a few interviews for CNA jobs on more specialized floors and it hasn't worked out well for me, but I'm feeling quite discouraged. I would've preferred to be on a more interesting floor, but it seems I just don't have enough experience.

I was wondering if I should give it another shot and go for a general med-surd CNA position (I'm not sure about the time commitment either, since I have two other jobs) or to just wait it out and apply to summer externships instead. (I would do that regardless – I think being a CNA will help to get those externships as well)

This is my dilemma! I'm not sure if being a general med-surg CNA is worth it, or if I should just stick to my current jobs and apply to externships from that.

Thanks guys!! I really value your input! :)
