New Nursing Assistant in Massachusetts Question

Nursing Students CNA/MA

Published

I recently graduated from my Nursing Assistant and Home Health Aide training programs. I will be testing at the Red Cross later this month for my certification. I'm BLS certified, have an Associate's degree (made 85% of nursing school prerequisites because there were so many...if that makes any difference), and volunteer experience at the local hospital where I shadowed a CNA and helped them make beds, organize supplies, etc.

When asked, what should I state as my hourly rate (part-time) or per diem rate? I don't want to under-price myself or overprice myself out of a position. I'm more than willing to work nights (in fact, this is my preferred shift choice), holidays, and weekends. Also, how do I address not being able to work certain days due to school? Will it be a liability mentioning that I'm going to nursing school soon (I'm on the program wait list)?
