alright, i just finished the cna class about two weeks ago. yay!:) i plan to take the cna exam next month. can anyone give me good tips or anything else i should remember for the skills part? i have the booklet and it tells me

step by step on what i should do for each skill. i'm so nervous!! lol! i've been practicing on my husband, i forget the small little things like pulling the curtain for privacy or leave the water and call light when you are finished! what skill should i focous on the most and practice? blood pressure? where the nurses nice when you do the skills test in front of them? one cna who i was with durring clinicals said, when she did the skill part they didn't make her feel comfortable. they just stared with a disgruntled look on thier faces. also, for anyone who did meal

percentages as one of the skills, what liquids in a container did you have to calculate? like, was it in a small/large juice box or small/large milk box? how many ounces are those? i know the 240ml and 120ml glasses, that part is easy to caculate. thanks for any answers!

Really, don't stress. :) The test is not as bad as it seems.

If you have trouble remembering those first and last steps for every procedure (Knock on door, provide privacy, wash hands, etc. - they are usually the same ones listed on every skills sheet) you can make up a mnemonic to help you job your memory when testing.

I did not perform any skills in front of a nurse -- it was just the examiner, my class, and I (and a resident during the shower, peri care, etc.). We did blood pressures, ROM exercises, etc., on each other (not a resident), and the examiner even helped out some of the students who were having difficulty because of nerves, etc.

We did not calculate meal intake either. We went around the room and each person named one thing to keep in mind when feeding a resident.

I did a LOT of stressing for no reason. If you know your skills, you will do great. Good luck!
