Florida CNA's: Training class vs. prep class?

I've been looking at job postings for CNA's, and I've seen one employer so far specify that they want their employees to be trained at a state approved school. From what I can tell, those "approved" schools' classes are at least several weeks long. I'd much prefer to take a quick prep class, or even a 2-3 week class. I don't have time to go to a 4-month long thing while I"m in college as well! My question is, do most employers even care?

I honestly don't know what employers prefer but I have had at least one HR rep say she doesn't really like CNA prep classes. She was just giving her personal opinion and really didn't clarify whether that influenced her hiring decisions. I also don't know if her personal opinion is shared by other nursing home employers. As a CNA student, I preferred to go through an entire CNA class so I would get as intensive training as I could to prepare me for the field. That might be a personality thing; some people who are more clever or confident can do the prep course and come out ready for work. Not I. Another thing with prep classes is they probably don't offer a clinical portion. I was once advised never to take a healthcare course that didn't have a clinical portion. But again, maybe someone who has a Type A personality will be succesful CNA's regardless of where they get their training.

I live in Florida. I went to a 10 day prep class given through a hospital. They needed CNAs so they decided to find and train their own employees. I have had no problems so far. I passed the test on a Friday and started orientation that Tuesday.

Mind if I ask which hospital provided the CNA class?

Baptist Hospital (NW FL)... they offer it every 2 months

They hired me at one of the nursing homes branches.... Im actually trying to work at at hospital now. I heard its different, like you are trained to do more.
