CNA JOBS IN FLORIDA

Hello everyone i am trying to find out if anyone in the state of florida know any nursing homes that are hiring. I have applied on Monster, Career Builder, indeedjobs.com and have not recieved any call backs yet.:lol2: I didnt think it would be so hard to find employement. If you are a CNA in the state of florida and know of any jobs hiring please let me know!!!!:lol2: I am relly anxious to get out there and get my feet wet. I live in miami but I am looking for work in Miami Dade, or Broward County. Desparate thanks :)

I'd like to know, too. I live in the Palm Beach County area (mainly interested in jobs in the Boynton, Boca, and Delray area), and it is very difficult to find CNA jobs. It frustrates me that most of the places I've been applying to want you to have at least 1 year experience in a health related field. I need to get hired first in order to gain experience, lol.

Wow...that's scary. I would think Palm Beach County would be the easiest place in the state to find work as a CNA. The last time I went up to PB I saw nothing but retirees and retirement communities.

It's probably easier than most places, but I have transportation issues as well. It seems as if the retirement homes and communities in the cities thaty neighbor my area aren't accepting positions at this time or want full-time positions. I'll keep looking, though.

well, i live in the panhandle of florida... escambia/santa rosa county (you know, the oil spill?) and there are plenty of jobs around here. i work for a staffing agency and they can't keep cna's. have you tried going to the nursing staffing agencies around in your area? they have contracts with some of the nursing homes and hospitals around here and they are always calling me! i can't work all the hours they want me to work. i work full time during the day for the health dept, so i can only work agency on the weekends. now that i am going back to school to finish my rn (2 terms to go, yeah!), i can't work every weekend anymore. maxim staffing solutions is the one i work for, google it and see if there is one in your area. it's a start, right? you can choose the assignments that you want to go on, go if you want, you don't have to. the only thing with maxim is that you have to have at least 1 year of experience in ltc and if you want to be sent to the hospital, you have to have experience there as well. but they can just send you to ltc if you prefer that. check it out. hope this helps!

i should try joining an agency. the school i got my cna certificate from is also a nursing agency so i should probably register with them. maybe my chances at getting a job will increase.

It's worth a try, go for it! Something is better than nothing, and generally, they pay more than the nursing homes. The added benefit is if they send you somewhere and you don't like it you don't have to go back to that place if you don't want to. There are a few NH that I won't go to. Actually, the only assignments that I accept now is at the hospital. I have lots of XP in the hospital setting, so I chose that one. They are 12 hour shifts v/s 8 and there is rarely any heavy lifting. I am just getting too old for all that lifting crap. My back is all messed up after 17 years of lifting and pulling on folks!

Thanks for the input. I actually would prefer a hospital job as well, but my inexperience is holding me back a bit, I think. I like working fewer days and longer hours, but at this point I really want the experience as well. I've applied for a couple of different positions. I applied to manorcare for a part-time cna position and I've also applied for two hospital positions affiliated with tenet health care. The first hospital position I applied for I highly doubt I will get hired for because they want 1-2 years experience in the behavior health field in addition to a CNA license. The second hospital position I applied to I have a better chance a getting because they don't require prior experience, but it's preferred. Also, it's a per diem position. And manorcare is a nursing home branch. From what I read about it they prefer full-time employees. Hopefully I get a call from somebody.

This is an agency. I saw it while driving but haven't spoken to anyone or visited their facility as yet. I plan to make a visit next week though. There are three offices in South Florida: Clearwater, Miami, West Palm Beach.
