CNA hired to "sit"

well sometimes i am hired to sit through my agency. for awhile i was doing everything for the pt. i had no problem with this. one day i went to sit and i was pulled to the floor because a reg cna at the hospital didnt show up. the charge nurse told me that there was a "sitter" thier and would take my place if i wanted to work the floor. i said ok, as long as they knew that the pay rate would change. well everything went fine and i had no problems. well the next couple days i was hired to sit again and the daughter of the pt was telling me that the sitter that was there before didnt do anything. well i informed her that she didnt have to do anything, that the floor cna assigned that hall is supposed to check the pt. on thier rounds and answer call lights. i told her that i do everything because i am there and i can and am not uncomfortable doing it. well now i know that this is causing confusion to me, the sitter, the floor cna's. because the next day i was hired to "sit" in psyc. along with another cna who was hired to sit. well i talked to the reg cna there and she told me not to worry about anything that they would take care of everything and do thier rounds, i had to sit with 2 pts that were also q2's. well they come in on thier first round and "inform" me that they (the 2 floor cna's) are sooo overloaded that i would have to do for the 2 pts that i had. i sed fine, all the while knowing that they better pay me my cna rate then. well the other cna that was also sitting, tells me that they never checked her pt, that was also a q2, that when she called for assitince that they wouldnt come, so she was basically forced to do the cna work, but she was hired to sit and was being paid sitter rate. this made me very angry, i told the charge nurse that i was gonna be paid my cna rate since i did EVERYTHING. later on at the end of the shift the 2 floor cnas came in and were asking me what the other cna told me, i told them that there is a difference between a sitter and a cna, they said well if ya'll are cnas then ya should do for the pt, i said there is a difference with pay and when i am hired to sit i am gonna sit, when i am hired to cna, i will cna. now i am just annoyed, b4 i would do everyting for the pt, no1 had to tell me. i even did the paper work for that pt. well now i am gonna make sure that everyone (charge nurse) is aware that i am sitting ONLY! i am tired of the confusion and floor cnas calling us "lazy" because we didnt do anything, which made me even more angry because i did EVERYTHING, and not to mention that i think the floor cnas lied to me about having too many pts' of thier own that they just couldnt possibly take on another 2, because i worked the night b4 on the floor there with another cna and we only had 6 q2's including those two!!! and this is the night shift!. i just wanted to know what you other CNA's think and if you are guilty of doing the same thing and ecpecting the "sitter" to do everything for the pt, because i have to admit that b4 i worked as a sitter i beleived that the sitter was supposed to do everything and even whispered and talked about the sitter! i feel bad, because i know now!!!
