Clinical question

Nursing Students CNA/MA

Do you think it's a plus or minus having to do clinicals in a hospital as opposed to a LTC place? I mean what are the chances after the program the hospital will keep you on?

most cna jobs are in ltc, not hospitals.

however, some businesses (ltc, hospital, etc) actively seek to have clinicals held at their location for several reasons (free labor/help, potential new employee pool, etc). on the other hand, some cna classes have a hard time finding clinical sites. without knowing why your cna class does clinicals at a particular site, it's hard to tell your job prospects at the hospital.

just ask the people you work with during clinicals, if they know of any cna's that work there that finished your program. that should give you and idea, heck the instructor should have an idea too.

overall, i'd say it's a plus, unless you make a bad impression while there.

Thanks! Class hasn't started yet,but everyone is surprised at the clinical site listed.
