How can a CNS specialize in otology, otoneurology, or neurotology?

Are there programs that provide credentials so an RN or an APN can specialize in otology, neurotology, or otoneurology? I'm not as interested in the nose or throat as I am solely of the ear. Not that I wouldn't mind getting an otorhinolaryngology or otolaryngology (as it is usually called now) certificate if there are such certifications available for clinical nurse specialists and nurse practitioners or just a post RN certificate. I'm also interested in the neuro and brain specialties of the hearing system in general.

Is there a way that a future Deaf RN could focus soley on treating the perioperative Deaf patient? It's simply a calling...

I'd like to know how I can obtain such specialties and where.

Hmmm - good questions. I'm an adult health CNS and there might be an advanced ENT specialty certification. I did a quick google search and didn't find anything about advanced practice nursing but here is the link for the ENT nurses organization:

"The National Certifying Board of Otorhinolaryngology and Head-Neck Nurses (NCBOHN) endorses the concept of voluntary, periodic certification by examination for all otorhinolaryngology and head-neck registered nurses. Certification is one part of a process called credentialing. It focuses specifically on the individual and is an indication of current competence in a specialized area of practice. Board certification in otorhinolaryngology and head-neck nursing is highly valued and provides formal recognition of basic otorhinolaryngology and head-neck nursing knowledge.

The Certification Program is sponsored by the National Certifying Board of Otorhinolaryngology and Head-Neck Nurses (NCBOHN). The Certification Examination for Otorhinolaryngology and Head-Neck Nurses is administered for the NCBOHN by the Professional Testing Corporation (PTC), 1350 Broadway - 17th Floor, New York, New York 10018, (212) 356-0660 (212) 356-0660, http://www.ptcny.com. I'm still not sure how they get cetified, though...
