Upcoming interview

I just received my letter of invite to interview for the CRNA program to which I applied. I was wondering if anyone out there could give me some sound advice on how to properly prepare so that I can "stand out" in the crowd. I am a bit nervous because I am competitive in all aspects except for my GRE scores. I have My BSN from St. Louis at Washington University Medical Center, Graduated with a GPA above 3.5, recieved the Clinical Excellence award from the University for the BSN Nursing program, have worked for 2+ years in the Surgical, Burn, Trauma ICU at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and am certified in BLS, ACLS, PALS and TNCC. I am also a member of the AACN. I completed an 8 week focus praticum on Nursing Anesthesia and wrote a 15 page position paper against utilizing AA's in Missouri. I will be taking the focus practicum information with me to the interview as well as the paper. I am extremely nervous about this interview because becoming a CRNA is my passion, I am not applying (like many) because of the money. I truly desire to make this my career. Does anyone have any ideas on what I can do to prepare and to convince the board that I can be a success in their program despite my GRE score. Also, if anyone has any interviewing tips please pass them on. Thanks!!!!

Congrats on getting the interview. There are several threads dealing with interviews on this BB. The interviews vary in content school to school. My interview at Newman was almost 100% clinical. What receptors does this drug hit, what happens to cardiac out put when you give this drug, etc,........

My two cents worth is

1. Don't BS, if you don't know the answer say so. Keep answers to what you know. Some admision committees will let you ramble on and dig your own grave.

2. Once you answer, stick with it

3. Don't appear nervous

If they have already invited you for an interview, then I would not worry about your GRE scores too much. Just do well in your interview. Be calm and confident but NOT cocky! Since you are at the point of interviewing, it is too late to retake the GRE, so don't worry about it. Just do your best in the interview and see what happens! I wish you the best of luck.

I can tell just by reading this post that you are highly motivated to become a CRNA and doing a lot of good stuff to get there. I think the admissions committee will see that too. You have a lot other things going for you than the GRE. What is your score and what is that anesthesia practicum that you did?
