Needed scores?

Specialties CRNA

What are the needed scores for the GRE, MCAT, and GPA needed (not lowest accepted, but actualy needed) to get into a CRNA program? How do they compare with the AA programs?

I am in my first semester of nursing school, and wanted to know my chances of making it in, and if not into CRNA if the AA progam could be a fall back.

Thanks,

Allen

BSN at University at Buffalo requires a 2.5 GPA, that is the minimum and that is what usually is accepted, depending on competition (2.7 is safe). Prerequistes are Microbiology, PGY, ANA, Medical Ethics, Statistics, Chemistry and Nutrition. GRE' s are not required for this program, they are required for the master program only which is minimum of 1000 and a GPA of 3.0. Interveiws at the graduate level is really what makes or breaks you when being considered.

MCAT is taken for MEDICAL SCHOOL, and a 24 is what you'll need in addition to a 3.6 GPA to apply.

Holy Crap.....Nevermind you are asking about CRNA, not BSN:roll . Sorry about that, It is VERY EARLY;) .

I was an average student, and am looking for the best way to jump into anesthesia.

Just wanted to make sure that I have a chance at CRNA school in the future.

If you are in your first semester of nursing school, then I would suggest studying hard and getting a great GPA. It does not matter if you have a mediocre GPA prior, just improve from this point on. Many of us have pathetic GPAs from our first years in college, but most schools will overlook that if you have proven yourself to be a good student.

As for actual GPA, that will depend on the school you are applying to. If they state their min to be 3.0 then they may take some 3.0's or they may only take 3.4 and up. Just call the schools you are interested in and ask them what the average GPA for their students are on admission.

You also have plenty of time to practice and study for the GRE. Don't sell yourself short, put in some effort now and it will pay off in the end.

Also, there is more to getting into anesthesia school than GRE and GPA. Good luck.
