In what locations will you NOT find CRNAs?

I've seen it mentioned here that some cities/parts of the country are basically MDA-only. Los Angeles was one, I think. Do you know of any others? Yes, I know I could search the sites to see where the CRNA jobs are being offered, but what I'm really looking for are off-the-top-of-your-head answers.

And using LA as an example, is the MDA-only thing a generalization, meaning that CRNAs can and do work there (albeit in fewer numbers), or does MDA-only really mean MDA-only?

I don't believe we have them in Canada yet...at least in BC. We recently had a case where a Canadian had neurosurgery in the USA, and when it was time to bill, MSP of BC would not cover the cost of the CRNA as they did not use them...

Southern California has CRNAs, but I think the majority of them are at specific institutions. Examples: Kaiser, VA, and various university hospitals

Very few CRNA's in Seattle. The anesthesiologists have resisted all attempts to create a CRNA program in the Seattle area. I have see the pay as low as 33$ an hour here too, despite the high cost of living.

Indeed, no CRNAs in Canada. It shoudl be interesting to see how that continues to play out, since Canada has such an extremely, physician-dominated health care system. Unfortunately Canada too is experiencing a significant anesthesia personnel shortage.

You're 100% right...not enough nurses...not enough GPs'...not enough anesthesiologists...

LOTS of managerial type folk though! ;)

You won't find CRNAs working in anesthesia in Missoula, MT, or in Wenatchee, WA....
