How confident were you after CRNA school?

hey guys.. me again.. wondering how well you were schooled. Not looking for bragging or anything like that, just honesty. As a recent CRNA grad do you feel like you were well trained and do you ever see yourself in that situation where your not 100% confident on your anesthesia care plan? Guess im asking if youre ever worried about the case or feel undertrained.. thats all.. you dont have to mention what school you went to or anything like that.. thanx again guys for your time.

If you feel 100% confident right after graduation then you are probably way overconfident, but if you go to the right school you should be prepared to work independently as soon as you graduate. That is truly the best you can hope for. Confidence in your skills comes with time and more experience.

The amount of clinical experience will make a huge difference in this. Experience in a variety of settings is important to you hitting the ground running in your first job. It's not like being a new RN in the ICU where you will have weeks to months of working with a preceptor, employers want you to function quickly on your own. You should have confidence to know when you need help, should be able to recognize the difficult airways, the patient that needs further workup. Any new grad will have a lot to learn with experience, but you should be able to know the difference between what you can handle-which should be most situations-and the more unusual situation where you need to consult someone. Clinical experience in the program is very important with this.
