Florida Schools

First of all welcome to the board. Nice to have you here. As far as schools in Florida, I recently moved from there and could probably give you a little info. There is a student forum on the BB, when you sign on, you can access it from the main page.

You do not mention what type of school you are looking for. I am sure it is a nursing school that you are talking about, but again, I am uncertain as to whether you want an ADN program or higher. The West Coast offers some really terrific 4 year programs. In Ft. Myers, there is Gulf Coast University. Pretty new as Universities go, but their BSN and MSN programs are some of the best in the State. Of course there is USF (University of South Florida) with the main campus in Tampa. This University is fine, but the course requirements are outdated and the program not as fresh. As far as Community Colleges, there are several on the West Coast .... Manatee Community College, located in Bradenton (just south of Tampa). MCC also has another campus located in Venice - both campuses offer the 2 year ADN program (thats where I graduated). In addition, Ft. Myers has Edison Community College. This college has locations in Ft. Myers, Punta Gorda as well as Naples. The program is fresh and the clinical instruction is some of the best. Have had many friends go through their program and are terrific nurses.

I have a friend in Panama City & she loves the Gooding Institute. I have met the director myself, and I was impressed with him and the program. Close knit group from what I gather-with no special treatment for people that work there or have "connections". I don't know anything about the other school in FL.
