Evaulation Please

My numbers are okay overall GPA 3.3 (I think they will be at least 3.4 by graduation) Science GPA 3.7, GPA Math 3.7 -- I have been a critical care nurse for 10 years working in ICU, CI -- however, 5 years ago my father started a business that I went in on finacially with him. Six months into the business he developed prostate CA, so I gave up my fulltime position in the unit so I could run the company. I have built the company up to approx. 1 mil. in sales per year but I have only been flex inconsistently since the time of my take over. This is a double edged sword because I feel I can now handle the finances of CRNA School without taking loans and still have my wife stay at home with our children. I have family for support while I'm in school and my brother has agreed to run the business thereby allowing me to goto school and still get income from the business. It was always my goal to goto CRNA school from the getgo but I was side tracked. I am now in the pool at UAB in CI, Heart Transplant and ICU.... I am trying to get as many hours as I can as I know they will ask me. I do feel my clinical skills are good...... how do you think this will affect me with the interview process and the chances of getting in school???? I am taking the GRE in 4 months (currently in Kaplan Review class) and hope to get my CCRN before application is due. I hope to be in September 2005 - January 2006 Class. Thank you so much for your advise and help.

Honestly your committment to your family and the business is awesome. Plus you have a fine GPA and you are getting the experience you need. IMO you would be a great candidate. Study hard for the GRE's, as you already are, and you should be fine. Best of luck.

You're an excellent candidate. I don't think you'll ahve any trouble at all finding a spot. best of luck to you.

My only advice would be to try and get some credentialling if you don't already have it. eg. CCRN
