CRNA's as Exempt Employees

  1. 0 This question is for those of you who are CRNA's and employed by a hospital as an exempt employee. How does your employer handle pay for on-call, beeper, call back? We are in negotiations right now and any help is appreciated.

We are on-call in house and always get the next day off so no extra money involved.
    Beeper is only 4.00/hr.
Call back is premium time and guaranteed 2 hours of pay. So if you get called back but only work for 30 min, you get 2hours min.

We get on-call pay (from home at $15.00/hr) and get paid a min of 2 hrs on top of call pay if we get called in. In-house call is at regular pay. If Im in house/on pager I'm paid regular rate. We can work any shifts we want (some work 8, some 10, some 12, etc. ) I work 1- 16 hr shift and 1-24 hour shift a week. There is no overtime, ever. If you work more than 80 hrs/2 wks (min for full time) then you get the same hourly rate. This is nice because it allows our schedules to be much more flexible. If we are scheduled for 30 hours one week, we then work 50 hrs the next week within a pay period. If they send you home due to not needed, you get your full pay for the rest of your shift.
We self-schedule (to a point). We give them a Request schedule 3 months in advance, they work with everyone's wants/needs and make it work. Generally I get pretty good schedules. Occasionally I'm stuck with an 8 hr shift here or there (I commute 45 miles each way, gas is expensive) but overall its a great system. Our team is pretty happy.
I should mention that we are union and in So California. so $$$ amounts are different than the rest of the U.S.
