Any CRNAs in NJ?

by rhp123

Hi, I am just a pre-nursing student taking my pre-reqs at a local CC in New Jersey. I am interested in looking into the career of CRNA.

I am wondering in the state like NJ, CRNAs recently lost a battle to MDAs. What are the CRNAs in NJ do now? Do they have to move to other states to find jobs? What are the effects of this direct supervision requirement on the practice of CRNA in NJ? like compensation, job market. etc. Any hope this requirement will be removed in the later days?

Please, please just do a search here on this website. For most larger-type facilities, nothing has actually changed in the way that anesthesia is practiced.

Not much has changed in NJ CRNA practice. The only rules that have changed pertain to CRNAs working in an office setting. For everyone else, as long as you don't mind working in the ACT (anesthesia care team) environment, there is plenty of work to go around. I finish up next year and already have my pick of jobs here south Jersey. Although NJ is heavily pro-MD, the places I have worked CRNAs are given plenty of room to practice. The CRNAs I work with have very little limitation as to what they can do and the pay is as good or better than many places. PM me if you have any other questions.

TraumaNurse: Thanks for the information. This is good news. I wish I could be a CRNA one day and I love NJ and would like to stay here! I got a lot of useful information from this site.
