2007 school ranking

by JoYang

I was at a bookstore the other day and noticed US News and World Report has published 2007 ranking for CRNA programs. However, in the magazine, they only listed #1-#10 schools. Anyone has any ideas what the rest of list looks like?

This ranking is very political in nature and has nothing to to with pass rates or what the programs offer. Just something to keep in mind when looking at the US News and World Report.

Do you know what the rankings are based on? Just curious.

You know i do recall a thread about this and someone did post some good information on this. I can't quite remember at this time. I just remember talking to the director of my program who is pretty much a legend. And that is what my director was telling me. It's kind of like a who you know kind of thing. I guess is just goes to show that politics are alive and well everywhere.

Very true. It is simply a popularity contest. Usually people vote who run programs, or have some "medical background". For instance, I doubt U Akron is listed even though there is a 96% first time pass rate for the last 13 years, with a 100% pass rate in the last 5 years. And this is with classes of 28 to 32. The national average I'm told is around 83% ?? I just sounds better to vote for the big names I quess.

I don't know too much about the ranking, but I know it's based on more than pass rates. After all, the NCLEX just tests on basic proficency. US News surveys take into account the qualities that students and faculty bring to the program, and graduates' achievements with their degrees. I think they also look at grant money.

The ranking is absolute crap! Um ... unless my school comes in #1 then it's totally accurate an beyond reproach. :^)
