Hi all!

I'm working in a high/low risk L&D and there are 3 CNMs that are in practice there. I LOVE working with them, and thoroughly enjoy the midwifery practice of obstetrics. I have a BSN and want to attain my MSN in midwifery, but I am trying to decide where best to go. There is not a program in my state, so I was looking into distance education off of the midwife.org site.

Can anyone give me good recs on some of the distance programs? I've looked into Frontier, which is where our 3 midwives went, East Carolina University, Stony Brook University and Philadelphia, but I think that one is only a certificate program and I am looking for a MSN degree.

Any help or recomendations are appreciated!! Thanks!

I've heard really great things about Frontier from other people. I e-mailed them a few months with some questions about possibly applying in the future and within a day I got back a detailed answer addressing all of my questions and encouraging me to apply. Defintely sold on the faculty/staff. You could try contacting them with any questions you have, I bet you will get a good response too.

Specializes in OB, lactation.

I have heard good things about Frontier and also about Stony Brook from someone who traveled there to check out their CNM program for an academic thesis they were doing but can't tell ya anything first hand. Whenever I get to proceed with my CNM I'll be going the distance route too :)

Happy to chat with you about ECU...

I am also in OK and I am wanting to pursue my CNM. I have heard great things about ECU. I sent in my application packet to Frontier this week. So, I am hoping to hear back in the next two weeks. I went that route due to about half the midwives that I work with went there and I like the fact that I can get my women's health NP at the same time. I wish you luck in your decision.

The CNM I was shadowing in Nebraska before coming to CT tried to sell me on Frontier and on doing my clinicals with her, she said it was a great program! If I were interested in distance, I definitely start there!

At the risk of sounding stupid....what exactly is Distance Learning?
