CNM (midwife) Burnout

I was told by my local CNM that burnout in the midwifery field is very high - I believe she said that the average CNM only practices full-scope for 5 years! Does this seem accurate? If so, how are people avoiding it?

My full time schedule is 20 hours in the clinic each week (2 10 hour days or 3 shorter days) and 5 24 hour shifts a month, for comparison. We do about 50 births a month so pretty busy when on call. I am paid 16 hours for each 24 hour on call shift.
