Wanting to work in the cath lab...getting back into nursing after not working in 4 years (7 years ICU experience previously)...Any advice and info? Anyone in the Virginia Beach area?

Even with 7 years ICU experience it may be difficult to land a cath lab job having been out of work for four years. I am a cath lab supervisor and would be very hesitant to hire somebody in that situation. It is a very demanding job and you must be at your best. I'm not saying that you can't do it but it may be hard. If you really are interested, try going back to a CCU for 6 months or a year to bone up on your knowledge and skills.

Whenever I feel blue, I start breathing again.

Thanks for the advice. Yes, I am starting on a cardiac stepdown unit after a refresher course:) I am also considering purchasing a cath lab course on CD Rom to study on my own...do you know "The Virtual CD Rom Cath Lab Set" from the cathlab.com site?

I am not familiar with it but will check the info out and let you know what I think...
