Western University vs. Mohawk-McMaster BScN Program

World Canada CA Programs

Hello Everyone!

I have been on the waiting list for the Mohawk-McMaster collaborative BScN Program and they just gave me an offer couple of days ago. However, I have already accepted the offer from Western University (main-site) for their BScN program. I am now in the difficulty to make a decision - whether or not should I cancel the Western offer to accept the Momac offer? I want to get some valuable opinions here.

I have paid $900 deposit for Western residence, which is non-refundable if I cancel my Western offer. Western also offered me $2000 scholarship for the first year which Momac was not able to. Plus, I like the Western campus and assume a better university life there since it's not a college-university collaborative program like the Momac. However, I heard that McMaster has excellent reputation in Nursing and I don't want to lose the opportunity to get a better degree which would probably benefit me in the long run. I know both schools are amazing but I just don't have enough information/experience to make the right/best choice.

If you can give me your honest opinions/advises, I will really appreciate it!

Do you mind explaining what you mean by better degree? From what I heard, both schools have very good nursing programs and the degrees are the same.

I actually want to get some insights about the BScN programs between Western and Momac. And if it is true that graduates from one school would be more preferable in the market than the other? I have also heard that nursing students would tend to find a job in their university town after graduation because it is easier since all the placements would most likely be just around. Is that true? I live in Mississauga, and hope to find a job in the future in the GTA area including Hamilton/Oakville/Mississauga other than in London.

Any comments and/or opinions will be appreciated!

Generally, for those who gets hired right after graduating are the ones who gets hired from the consolidation placement. The placements you get generally do revolve around your school's location but it's not limited to only there. Sometime schools are able to collaborate with hospitals further away.

I personally don't see any preferences of school when managers are hiring, it is more about the experiences and the person.
